Long Lull in Post

Sorry about not posting much in a while but had shoulder surgery and now back on my game.

Fishing has bee fair at best on Big Reds. Get 1 or 2 or none and maybe 5 or so but gotta work for them as bait has not been thick. Recent NE wind has help considerably jus made for tough conditions.

Pictures are of sevral trips that we managed to have a good time. The last is on Thoe Copeland of Appalation Anger and his lady Michelle - two days of fun for this well written Fly Fisherman.

Still doing Minn Kota Sales and Installs as well as Power Pole.

Will stay in touch better I hope - call me if wanna book a trip or have trolling motor needs

Chandeliar Island Hosted Trip

Capt Bobby Lewis allowed me and Mark Nichols to go out on a 2 day mother-ship trip after my hosted trip to do some DOA work and that we did! He sent his 24’ bay boat out for us to use and explore in. Can’t thank him enough. Day 1 Capt Austin – our Capt went with us and we showed him that DOA Lures can hurt Louisiana fish. Then 2nd Capt Austin joined us that afternoon and we did the same. Numerous doubles and triples on reds – quality fish – used about every style and colors DOA we had trying different things. This place is a Fish Haven! Ridiculous. At the end of the day me and Mark both said it was the most quality reds caught in one day for each of us – worn out! Did some exploring day 2 on our own and found some mudding reds on the flats in low water. Don’t get any better. Can put U on some great Crawfish or Casino time also!
2 trips planned for 2019 and taking deposits now. Let me know if you wanna have some fun.

Long Needed Update

Hopefully now the weather will warm and winds die down.

The trout and drum are wanting to move and this week should get it going. I did a short cast or too this afternoon before another scheduled function.

Found a few nice trout and one slot rock - All on DOA Deadly Shrimp. Water was low but few hungry fish on the prowl with rock in the box. This was one purdy Speckled snaggle tooth. Get ready for a great spring and summer.

It is not too early to think about Big Drumseason and if interested in a trip you better get with me.

I will post up my Chandeliar Island trip shortly - Stand By

2018 Start

Well -as you can see I havent been doing much. It is show time and having family issues have kept me grounded.

The cold has stunned and killed some trout but hopefully the closure will create great spring for us - will have to wait and see. It willbe a catch and realease only til June but if like last time - it will be an awesome rod bending time.

Rock are still plentifuland my favorite this time of year when not to cold to feel my fingers!

I am going to be at Greenville Outdoor Expo end of Jan so come see me - offering a $50 off full day bookings and have a few spots on this years Chandeliar Island Lousiana trip - $950 for 3 full day, lodging and food included!

Early December Update

The trout and rock bite has been great. The new Storm Arashi Cover Pop has been doing the deal for both. After the topwater bite the DOA CAL baits twitched along the bottom seems to work best in this cooler waters.

Now on to my adventures:

I did my first trip to South Texas in search of Big Trout and 1st Annual DOA Lures Writer Event. What an experience to say the least.

First day fished with our DOA Texas Rep Capt Brian Barrera. Local Tex/Mex guy that knows the territory. We fished out of Shallow Sport skiffs that we actually ran in 3 inches of water in! Yep – water very skinny there and loads of grass. We caught numerous upper slot drum and really nice trout fishing pot holes in about 12-18 inches of water. The fish had nowhere to run but out! I got one trout at 30” – long and skinny but a blast. My hat goes off to EZ Tackle for the Fenwick Inshore rods and New Daiwa Ballistics reels which are extremely light and handed these fish perfect – my go to set up now.

Days 2-4 were windy and rainy with SNOW on Friday! Yes – 7 miles from Mexico and snow. We did get to fish Saturday and water temps were cold – dead and stunned turtles, pelicans and trout seen. They can’t stand that shock there. Only way I did was seal out wind with my Frogg Toggs Pilot II outfit – glad I took it.

All said, had a good time there and a great fishery they have – very unique style also. If ever out that way contact Captain Brian Barrera at 956 755-9413. And not just fishing – excellent hunting for everything from ducks to exotic animals in the wild. Had one guy shot a nilgai around 800 lbs. while we were there.

Back home ready for more local adventures – call to book rock and trout trips this winter and see y’all at the shows!

I am now booking 3 day trip out of Biloxi Miss on a 100 ft mother ship fishing the Chandeliar Islands in Louisiana - a blast with good fishing, food and fellowship - only $950 a person! Call if interested.

Want to wish all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and Thanks for helping make this year a successful one.

Mid November Update

Well, the weather has been getting into the fall/winter pattern. This has the trout moving into the creeks and rock firing up even better. Getting trout on DOA 2 3/4 shrimp and Cal Curl Tails as well as Rapala Twitching Raps.

The rock top water action has been awesome throwing the New Storm Arashi Cover Pop.

Action should continue to improve but will have to bundle up! Get your Froog Toggs Pilot II on with the Puff Jacket and stay warm.

Trips available through the winter as weather permits and can be very exciting.

October Update

We carried Big Drum over into mid October as they were stacked up in New Bern with all the menhaden. Some great action. Is still a few around. Who knows?

Thetrout season is kicking of great - lots of quality fish with a few jagers around.

I fished my first tournament in years and my game plan worked - I took 1st with 3 fish limit of 8+ lbs and my mate Joe took 2nd with 7+lbs. DOA CAL Curl Tails on 1/8 and 1/4 oz DOA Jigheads did it all. Saw people fishing live shrimp and we smoked them.

The rock bite has been strong still too. Top water at its best.

Give me a call if wanna go.

Still got room on Chandelier Island 3 day trip for $950 each - all food and beveage paid - only bring own adult beverage if wish and tackle. Out of Biloxi Mississippi staying on a 100 foot boats. loads of trout and reds. Great group trip.
