Great Fall Ahead

The trout fishing has been good this fall with numbers of small trout with some decent eaters in the mix. Limits have been caught without too much work – just have to be able to move around to find large fish. There has also been a good number of slot drum being caught too. Of course DOA CALS on DOA jig heads and Deadly Combos have been getting the job done.

I had Chris Toth and his buddy and father in law Snow out for a trout trip. We moved around and ended up with a nice mess of fish for them.

I have a shop well stock with all the DOA local products and Diawa reels that can be mounted on my TFO or Diawa rods. New products are my Stainless Fish Spatula and coming PAR-Fe Cleaner Wax that is great for boats, campers  etc. I will be running some sales on Yozuri Shrimp now until December. $10.99 each.

I have openings for trout, drum or Rock trips either 4 or 6 hours. Action should stay good through the winter – bundle up and let’s go! Big Drum trips for next season using light tackle is going to fill up quick too.

Cooler Weather!

It is fall and fishing is ON!

Trout (Chad Levy 7 lb) and slot drum (Buck Jones 27 in) have been fired up and should continue to be through the fall. They are in the river and will tend to move back in the creeks as weather cools off. Target these fish on top water, sub surface or bottom depending on conditions. I use Rapala Skiiterwalk. Storm Chug Bug and DOA Airhead on top, Rapala Twichin Rap or Storm Twitchin Stick sub surface and DOA CAL tails and Shrimp on bottom.
Rock will be caught through the winter and can be caught from Dawson Creek to Trenton and Pitch Kettle. Work deep ledges and stumpy shoreline for some exciting strikes using the same baits as for trout and drum. I will add my Rockin Wobble as a good swim bait too.

Contact me for a fun filled trip after these guys.

Shop is loaded with TFO and Diawa plus best selection of DOA baits in area along with information of use that you get nowhere else. Will have live mud minnows in tanks real soon for live baiters. New on the shelves are my Fish Spatulas made of stainless! Great for the grill or gifts.

Come on out and fish with us this weekend - Pamlico County Shrine Club Trout Tournament - Capt meeting 6 pm Friday 25th Pamlico County Shrine Club with Grady Dixon smokey BBQ. Come support and enjoy - WANT KIDS!

Drizzly day on Neuse

Not the best weather can bring out some of the best fishing!
NE wind making it hard to find fishable spots but endeavoring to persevere can prove it can be done.
I had the Holly Springs NC gang – Ross, Russell and Paul, out in the drizzle wind day chasing trout – first stop was a see what we  missed – I mean missed hook-ups! Missed several bites but got the stage set for later.
Next stop was some small fish to get the smell on the boat and plenty of them. Then to 3rd stop – It’s on. We found small, medium and large trout and a upper slot drum filling the live well for crews feast. It was great action on DOA shrimp and CALS and Rapala Twitchin Rap.
We then went into the creek to find more small trout at 2 stops along with an added couple of live well fish.
A great morning of drizzle and wind for us all with fresh fish going home for the table!
Just the beginning of what is to come so call and book your trip soon.

DOA Airhead Catches

Well – I know I haven’t posted much in a few weeks but needed some time off after the great Big Drum season we just had. Did a little camping and family bonding now back at it!
Hit the water this morning to see about top water rock action with the wind blowing a gale out of the NE. No success on rock but did get a 16 inch trout and 25 inch hog drum on the DOA Airhead rigged un-weighted worked on the surface. This bait can be fished with numerous technique’s and will catch many species as well.
I have trips scheduled out for next 2 weeks so reports will get better.

Big Drum still hungry for my DOA Popping Corks

A day on the water with son in law and low winds – what a way to go!
Started day with 2 Big Drum on light tackle then small trout and drum working shorelines and then another Big Drum before break  – time for lunch! Back out again in search of slot trout and found bunch of short fish with only 1 legal about 18”. Plenty of blue fish – never seen a year with so many.
Great family day!
Don’t give up on Big Boys – still some around and don’t need bait to catch them – come see me for DOA Popping Cork/Airhead Rigs and Tackle needed to get you into the action. Popping cork bite still good and I am offering my 3 rod/reel outfits up for sale used but still full warranty at discounted price. They are (2) TFO 7’ XH Signature rods with Diawa Lexa 4000 reels spooled with Fins Windtamer 40# Braid and (1) TFO 7’ H Signature rod equipped the same. Plenty of DOA Popping rigs ready too.
Will still keep after them as I move into Trout and drum fall run – never know when you may get the opportunity! Stay prepared with gear onboard.
Book your trip soon with open dates starting October 12th for top water rock action, trout and maybe an Old Drum.
