Santas Report

Santa has come and gone. All the blessings have been given and presents opened. Stomachs are swelled and need to get out. GO FISHING.
Trout are still the main target. Creeks are where you need to be. Hard plastics such as Mirrolure, Rapala, and YoZuri doing well with DOA CALS the best bottom bouncer.
Had 2 fish weighed in on Christmas Day (had they not been friends - notta).

JB had one he caught evening before that weighed in at 4.86 after being on ice overnight. Probably would have made citation the day caught – nice 24 inch fish.

Bill brought by the only fish he had Christmas morning. A hog at 27 ¾ inches and 6.36 pounds. This is a case of having the patience needed this time of year.
I will be getting out myself this week and report what we do – hopefully a boat load of happy clients.
I have made a change to my website FINALLY getting a buy online setup. I will be adding inventory as we go along. I started with my Shrimp Earrings and T Shirts. Just look on the STORE SPECIALS page and pick items wanted and click to pay – credit card or pay pal. I guarantee to keep shipping cost as low as possible. I will be adding lures, rigs and reels soon.
Let me know if there are any items you would like to see me add – it easy.

Nothing Fishy - All About Guns!!!!!!

My Buddy has been Barnacle Bob for years but we know things change with time. Age, back troubles and stuff makes for change.
I spent about 4-6 hours trying to get him suited up to be a Cowboy. The availability of guns to order are slim to none. But, I got him set up for gun slinging now.
Being of the town he is from I think I will call him Bad Lands Bob!
Anyone needing help finding their specific weapon can be assured I will do all I can to find it. If you don’t believe me, ask Bad Lands Bob!

Dec 10 Update

Cold then hot – mixed up weather. Fish feel it too.

speck pictureTrout fishing is still at a high! There are plenty of quality trout around with a strong showing of small fish too – next year’s fish. You can pick your baits of choice as I have had customers catching on Gulp, Fin S Mirrolures, and my DOA and Rapalas. The bite can be very subtle so line contact is critical for hookup. Most of the fish had been caught in the backs of creeks during the cold spell as water temps dropped into the 40s but an now be found out toward the fronts of creeks and even in the river.

Stay moble and you will get’em. Remember that there is still a 4 fish limit per person per day – our local enforcers are doing a great job enforcing laws on both sides, commercial and recreational. Stay within the law!

My son in law Michael Carawan took his buddy Kenny Campen out for a great morning of fishing in and out of the creeks. They caught a load keeping a nice 2 man limit to eat.
I hit it by myself and stopped at some old spots finding out they are still great. Couldn’t have fished without the Power Pole due to the wind but once setting it down, I caught at least 20 trout with a solid limit of 2+ pounders. Mom said she wanted some fresh fish and I delivered.

Rock have been doing well up in the Neuse and Trent Rivers. Still slack in the top water world down river.  Something keeping bait out of stump fields – maybe it will correct itself.

As winter progresses, don’t stop fishing. Trout can be caught all year barring a major freeze and rock action should stay active.
My shop customer appreciation day was a success for those who showed up. We had beautiful weather, great fish stew and good social afternoon.

Marly modeled my shrimp earrings earning the name of Ms Marly Minnesott! Her mother also brought me a Crab Pot Christmas tree for the shop. Her mother makes them and anyone wanting one just needs to ride into Arapahoe and look for the signs. Thanks Amy.

I will be going into my winter hours after next Saturday. No regular hours but all you need to do is call and if available I will assist you with your needs. Charter trips will continue throughout the winter targeting trout and Rock.

Need a Christmas gift for your man? We can go small with a rod and reel or up to a Power Pole or Trolling Motor – or Guns too. Can’t decide, I have gift certificates. OH, let’s not forget our ladies; sterling and gold hoop shrimp earrings – check out Ms Marly Minnesotts picture. Other colors also available and even one that glows in the dark.
