Post Memorial Dat Update

Trout have been taking the baits down river. Good possibility of legal limit catches with a chance of a citation.
Blace and his son came in this week with a 25” trout. I wasn’t able to weigh it in for him but could have well made 5#.
I have had several reports of slot drum showing up being caught on rubber baits and mud minnows fished tight to shore and docks.
Cobia fishing has been hit or miss with a few flurries of catches reported. I was out with Ed last week and scratched on cobia but did get some big chopper blues. I treated him to some excellent smoked bluefish the next day!!! Bait has been ghostly at best with reports of loads of menhaden further south. I am heading out again Monday for cobia and maybe a trip further out for dolphin. They have been sticking well pulling skirted ballyhoo which I have a good supply of (Bionic).
Old drum season is just around the corner and starting to get bookings. Call soon to get hooked up on a trophy citation fish.
My shop supplies set up at Bay River Camp Ground (BRCG) was well received over Memorial Weekend. No need to buy before getting there now and soon will have mud minnows in a tank along the river. If you are out on the Bay River and need some great tackle/bait; call Rachel at BRCG – 252 745-4879 – she will be glad to help you.
I am heading to DOA Writers Guild in 2 weeks – loads of great fishing the Indian River in Florida with great product and great fishermen. Best knowledgeable group I have ever fished with and will be coming back with a large stock of DOA lures. I any of you would like DOA shirt, check them out online and let me know, can save shipping. I will also be picking up another supply of Stick-It Poles in 8 and 10 footers.
Just a reminder – I DO have my FFL license now. I need some experience filling out the paperwork! Come see me with patience though until I get used to it.

Pre Memorial Day Report

NE wind has helped push some good water in and sparked a good trout bite on river shore. There have been a fair number of legal/edible fish being caught and this should continue as the small fish I tagged all winter continue to grow at about 2 inches a month. The DOA Deadly Combo has been exceptionally productive enough that I have a limited supply on hand until I go to Florida in June.
Those fishing my mud minnows have had good success on trout and DRUM. Yes drum. There have been some caught from New Bern to the sound with slot fish a good possibility. Do remember to be conservative, eat what you keep and release carefully others.
Cobia has been inconsistent with some nice size fish weighed in. Bait has been an issue with cooler than expected water temps. I have been keeping eels on hand and also supplying Ronnie at Harkers Island Tackle. Call me or see Ronnie at HI Tackle for your orders.
Bay River is also producing well when weather permits. Visit my shop setup at Bay River Campground. Rachel said first weekend went well and we will continue to stock as needed.
I am setting up a boat and RV storage here in Minnesott Beach; highest ground in the area. Let me know if interested – my rates aren’t set yet – working on security fence and lights but can reserve you a spot now if interested.
Call for any charter bookings you desire – guarantee fun!

Early May Update

The easterly winds have been great for the river shore fishing. Loads of trout although small have fired up. I have had a major run on DOA Deadly Combos that have been producing really well on these trout. Legal fish have been mixed in too. I had one customer who caught a citation 6 lb fish in Oriental Saturday just before the storm hit.
Drum reports are getting better but still far from what we want.
Cobia is the story for those wanting to venture to the coast. Bait has been an issue but if you want eels – call me a day ahead and I can hook you up.
My minnow tanks a filled with mud minnows again and freezer full of shrimp, squid and ballyhoo.
Ready to sell firearms now – new to the process but will give you the Best Deal.
My plan is to have satellite site at Bay River Campground set up before Memorial Day for you campers. If you need any additional stuff that I have not stocked there, please let Rachel know.
Charter bookings are open for any of my targeted fish – call to get out for a fun trip.
