BIG Drum on the Neuse

Another great BIG Drum week – now time for a Blow!!!!

Had Randy Durham and one of his site (http://www.NCangler.com) moderators out Wed afternoon. I wetted them down to start with a stiff NE wind before settling down to some action. They both managed to get well deserved citation catches. It was Jeffs first catch. Good fishing with good people.

Thursday Am was out with Mike Marsh and my buddy Capt Gary Dubiel. We got him some good writing stuff and lots of pictures with 3 fish in first hour of drumming. We then went for light tackle and managed a yearling drum and trout fishing bait slicks in shallows.

Thursday afternoon was a trip with Noble Brother Joey Freeman, his grandson Christian Register and his buddy Jeff. Started a little slow with 3 unpinned fish then it fired up – had 2 flurries landing 5 (4 citations) with I double. This was Christian’s first Big drum and he is pumped. Had to get him back on dry ground to get re-focused for first day of school.

Oh, by the way, my daughter Crystal got her 1st Big Boy thanks to her Boo Michael.

What other fish can you target and get these numbers of citations? Let’s GO! Don’t let storm worry you – drum will still be hereafter blow.

If you are from out of town and need somewhere to stay; I can help arrange.

Bookings are coming in so call soon to tackle one of these citation fish.

Be Safe on the water.

Neuse River OLD Drum Report

order: 0;” alt=“image” />

It was a great week on the Neuse. Old Drum are hungry. Two trips for first time Old Drum catches.

First trip with was with Chuck and Linda Rothbart. Weather was rough with stiff NE wind. Started out slow but ended trip with 5 boated and 1 spitting hook at boat. We say this was the HOG!! Linda was moaning (picture tells story) a bit on first fish but regained composure and said sheepishly; I want another!  2 citation fish at 41” and 44”.

Second trip was with the Levtzow family. Slick hot conditions, more manageable that first. Hope (my first mate) got here first old drum only short time into trip with a nice 43” citation fish. Second fish went to her brother, Brandon, landing a feisty 38” fish. I attempted to fill dads (John) bucket list to no avail. He said his goal was accomplished with is 2 kids catches.

Fish are here – and I am ready to take you on a fun trip! It’s getting busy so call early.

Call to book trip that I guarantee FUN and all the effort I can put out to put you on a trophy.

Family Drum Trip

OK – I have reported on Old drum status from good reports of others! Here’s my story.

Took off early today due to no mullets left and carried grandson and wife on a madden drum vogue on the Mako.  Fished a new spot due to GPS crap out but judging my depth and had a blast.

We had 6 fish from 5-dark from 38 – 46. Grandson got 2 citation fish at 41” each, wife got1 with a 41 and 38 and I got 1 at 38 and 46. I took back seat and caught last fish.

Fish are here – and I am ready to take you on a fun trip!

Call to book trip that I guarantee FUN and all the effort I can put out to put you on a trophy.

Drum are Here

Drum is the word!

Had been hearing of some caught in the sound but now have confirmed river fish. Joey and Ashley fought the rough water and caught 5 and lost 2. It’s time to get going.

I will be taking mullet orders starting next weekend and keeping chum, Lupton rigs and Penn combos in stock for drummers.

Also, Charter bookings coming in so call and get your date locked in. Myself and Gary will be hitting it hard in effort to put ypu on one of these monsters.

Be safe on the water and remember to expanded range has been being used. Pay attention to notice to mariners for times.

Brackdoor trip

Quick report of a great morning with my fishin’ partner Capt Gary Dubiel. Put him on my boat in my backyard and man did we have a great trip. 6 drum with 5 in slot and largest 26”, 7 trout tagging 4, one release and eating 2 and several small flounder. Bait thick here and good reason for the fish. All caught on artificial, jigging bottom.

Nice to get out and enjoy a day not thinking of work but now wondering who may want to come target this with me. 4-6 hours is all needed plus heat is bad around 12.

Call me to book a trip – possible combine this with rock in New Bern.‘

Be Safe on the water.
