Easter Ladies Fish

Just a quick report of local paradise ladies Easter catches.

Ashley caught a keeper inland trout but released it to be able to spawn and maybe caught again. Her and Joey had a couple flounder too.

Christina had a dockside caught legal flounder. Nice catch. Guess what it was caught on? Can you believe chicken gizzard? Oh yes, my weekend guy use strange bait but catch fish.

Now, when you come in my shop and I tell you all these baits catch, believe me!!!

Hope to head out next week to do a Cobia check and will report my findings. I have plenty of openings – let me know when you may want to go.

Check out my online stuff on my website.

Hope all had a great Easter weekend!

Easter Report

Will it ever quit blowing?

Trip out this morning with Jerry and his son TJ. They had caught rainbows and browns but never Speckled’s. Did manage to get their first speckled trout which I told them was small compared to our normal trout. Maybe one day we will be able to get them on those.

My side-kick JBs friends, Joel and Charlie, came out of a blowing day last weekend in Pamlico River with 2 nice rock and a flounder. I would have never predicted anyone would have fished that day. Here’s to Lenoir County guys.

Remember- rock closes the 30th of April.

I have had a report of cobia sightings in the area but no takers. It won’t be long before we can stick one of these brownies.

Check out my jigs and stuff on my site.

I have opens for inshore and cobia trips for those wanting to get out and have some fun. Trout are mixed with nice drum and occasional rock or flounder.

Be safe on the water and let’s all pay reverence to this great weekend!

Beautiful Morning

Beautiful morning not seen lately and luckily had some good folks wanting me to take them fishing. Its been tough with current regs’.

Started out as a day od rock fish but had a very slow bite. Did manage one rock on a Rapala Xrap Sub surface bait and a nice bass on a Rapala Skitter Walk. Decided to head back to inland creeks to see if we could get on some of the trout I had been tagging.

Caught 2 right at about 14” and an 18 ½” Drum to allow my clients to at least have a small meal of fresh fish. Thank the Lord for NCWRC allowing my clients to eat a little good in our waters. These fish are steadily moving out of the creeks and into our river. Hopefully some can make it to spawn.

That’s all for now – have a couple of days on water next week and will give an Easter report afterward.

Let me know if I can help you with any boating or fishing needs or charters. I sell and install trolling motors, power poles or talons.

Check out my site for the web store stuff that ships cheap. Cobia season short coming – check out my jigs.

Another Blowing Monday

It was another windy Monday on the water. Will it ever end?

Went out to tag some more trout for Tim’s studies and see what was still holding in the creeks. Fighting the wind, I did manage to boat six trout. Tagged 3, 2 too short and one in the broiler for my wife and I. Cant imagine how many I could have caught if not for the windy. Hard to feel bite with 20 yard loops in your line.

I cant figure why not many anglers are out fishing this spring. Has been a good bite of trout, drum and an occasional flounder. And let’s not forget the rock. They are still legal tender through April 30. Hopefully we will get a fair ruling from NCMFC to open some degree of limit on trout – hopefully sooner than June.

In the mean time, I am sitting around a quite shop or fishing.

April Fundraiser Drum Tournament

There is a fund raising Drum Tournament scheduled for 30 April out of New River Marina in Sneads Ferry. Brochure is attached. The proceeds will go to help the Powell family through these trying times. Eric has Lou Gehrig’s Disease and will need all the support we can give him and his family. Come out and have a fun time fishing and supporting this cause. We should all help the needy as much as possible. If you cant fish, I am sure they will accept any contribution you can make.

April Blow Day

Windy day out to attempt to tag a few trout before the BLOW! Didn’t work – could fish me normal spots without 100 loop in line. Did manage to snag an 18” flounder on one of the few lee shores I could fish. And I want all to know that she hit one of my Lil Corkie baits. Now these have been for sale in my shop for 2 years with little interest. Couldn’t talk guys into using them. Well, I found a guide in Louisiana who uses them religiously and sold him all I had last week. So I decided to fish one today and damn a nice flounder. Still have them in Blood Hound Jr and Broken Back and will make someone a deal to move them out for more room.

Ole Bobby Huck has been chasin’ inland trout and landed a nice tournament fish that someone would love to have caught. He hit this 5# bass throwing trout baits.

Trout are still in creeks but will be heading out as water warms. And June 15 cant come fast enough.

Rock are still in good supply in the Neuse but remember 30 April is last keeper day. Fish bridges, trestles and ledges if the wind will let you

Call me if you would like to have me take you out for these fish as well as cobia this next month. Hoping for another great season on them.

Be safe on the water.
