Well -as you can see I havent been doing much. It is show time and having family issues have kept me grounded.
The cold has stunned and killed some trout but hopefully the closure will create great spring for us - will have to wait and see. It willbe a catch and realease only til June but if like last time - it will be an awesome rod bending time.

The trout and rock bite has been great. The new Storm Arashi Cover Pop has been doing the deal for both. After the topwater bite the DOA CAL baits twitched along the bottom seems to work best in this cooler waters.
Now on to my adventures:
I did my first trip to South Texas in search of Big Trout and 1st Annual DOA Lures Writer Event. What an experience to say the least.

Well, the weather has been getting into the fall/winter pattern. This has the trout moving into the creeks and rock firing up even better. Getting trout on DOA 2 3/4 shrimp and Cal Curl Tails as well as Rapala Twitching Raps.
The rock top water action has been awesome throwing the New Storm Arashi Cover Pop.

We carried Big Drum over into mid October as they were stacked up in New Bern with all the menhaden. Some great action. Is still a few around. Who knows?
Thetrout season is kicking of great - lots of quality fish with a few jagers around.
I fished my first tournament in years and my game plan worked - I took 1st with 3 fish limit of 8+ lbs and my mate Joe took 2nd with 7+lbs.

If I had to rate this year 1-10 I would give it a 8. The bait again this year didnt pile in as normal and what did ran upriver to New Bern. We still had a good season with just a few no fish days. The PROVEN DOA Popping Cork Rig still doing the job. On to trout!
Looks to be a great season on trout and rock - booking trips as we speak.

The Big Drum are still in area providing exciting explosions on DOA Popping Cork rigs and eating fresh mullet soaked on the bottom. Only a few weeks left so get in on the excitement.
The trout, slot drum and rock are showing well now also and making signs of a great fall season.

Late August has brought us the Big Drum. They are not stacked but some around for excitement. DOA Popping Cork rigs getting it done as it has for years and jigging off the bottom with same DOA Baits is producing big Thumps.
I have been doing double duty repairing Minn Kotas as fast as I can keeping anglers on the water and doing pots of trolling motor and Power Pole installs as well. Let me helpread full article
Well, a lot of folks have said I havent posted lately. Reason is not a lot to brag about. I dont post unrealistic stuff. There has been a great top water bite going on early and late for trout, drum and rock. Varies from day to day what you may catch but the explosions are awesome. The new DOA PT7 has been working well along with the Strom Chug Bugs.

The trout are scattered everywhere in good numbers with a lot of small ones loving the DOA Deadly Combo Shrimp. . Rock are on fire early and late eating the DOA PT-7. Loads of bait in river and a few Big Drum showing up - book now!
