July 30 13 with the Wilkersons

Beautiful morning with light winds, but few trout bites with the Wilkersons for Kathys birthday trip.
Headed down river as wind picked up and found some hungry slot drum and a 23” trout on the river shore.

July 29 Wilson Trip

Out today with Wilsons, Dave and Bryan, of Cary NC.
Our first stop in search of trout started slow moving several times and power poling down due to wind. Then Bryan’s rod doubled. Suspect was a ray but it never went down. The m/l rod was stressed as drag on 2000 Diawa Exceler was working well keeping #2 VMC circle hook connect to 15# Fins Braid. Then he surfaced – a Big Drum on a mud minnow!read full article

Bruggeworth Family Trip

Great trip with the Bruggeworth family Saturday.
Fished down river and had top water and live bait drum and trout.

Even snagged an exceptional 27” trout too.


Fishing is good with OLD DRUM in the zone too.
Have opens into August for light tackle and Old Drum – call to book.

Hawgs on the River

JE Windborne caught these 4 trout today in the Neuse River fishing live bait and being patient dodging storms early. He also had several others along with lots of drum. Great day of fishing with 3 trout being citations. 6.96, 5.59 and 5.50 lb with 4th being 4lb.

4TH July Report

Summer time weather patterns have set in and too much SW wind has keep river levels low and rough conditions at times.

There has been trout and drum with a mix of flounder being caught searching the river shores down river and working deeper waters with jigs and live baits. With the stiff winds, a Power Pole or Stick It Pole is key, so you can fish areas slower than 90mph drifting! DOA CALread full article
