August 17 2008 Neuse River Fishing Report
Alot of shrimp being caught with cast net and resulting in some nice numbers and size of trout. Reports of numerous limits of nice fish.
Weighed in a real nice flounder - 5.32 pounds caught on river bank. Good to see some bigger flounder with the numbers of small ones still being caught.
Large Drum are running hard now. Fishing ledges and drops is the ticket with fresh or live bait on Capt Owen rigs to help preserve the resource. Have heard of catches from 1 - 20+ fish per trip.
Spanish also being caught in river. Pull 00 Clark Spoons on #1 or 2 planers or trolling weights. I use handlines with planers.
REMINDER - my Trout tournament starts mid Sept at $25 each. See link at bottom of home page for application and details. Fun cheap chance to fish this fall season and have a chance to win up to $900.

August 5 Report
Hot Hot HOT - weather that is. Alot of small flounder with mix of keepers on live menhaden. Plenty of bait to be had with cast net. Trout bite early with alot of blues to eat your rubber baits (good for me!!!) Tarpon still around with Drum starting to show. Use fresh mullet and keep fresh on hook using Capt Owen Drum Rig to conserve our resources. Been report of sharks in river eating on dead tarpon. Also had a call about 2 pompano caught around Oriental today, how ABOUT THAT!
Will get better with time on updates, promise. This is my first following my webmasters tutorials adding pictures too.
My Trout Tournament starts in Sept. See application link on Home pae for details.
Pamlico County Shrine Club 2nd Trout Tournment is set for Oct 25 with link on site for that too. Fun day with lots of prizes along with cash and kids catergory too. Need all the kids we can get, winner of last shown in kids gallery stand on pier holding his first place fish. He and friends keep asking when next one is.
Til Later
